Changbai Mountain 长白山

Changbaishan Scenic Area is a national tourist attraction integrating natural scenery and human history.

Geographic Location and Area

 

Changbaishan Scenic Area is located in Chibei District, Erdaobaihe Town, Antu County, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, southeast Jilin Province, with geographic coordinates ranging from 127°42′55″E to 128°16′48″E and 41°41′49″N to 42°51′18″N.

The scenic area covers an area of 52.42 square kilometers and is one of the highest mountain ranges on the eastern edge of Eurasia, situated on the border between China and North Korea.

 

Main Attractions and Features

  • Changbaishan Tianchi Lake: Also known as Baitoushan Tianchi, it is a border lake between China and North Korea, with each country owning part of its waters. Surrounded by majestic peaks, the lake's water is clear and deep, making it a landmark attraction in Changbaishan Scenic Area.

  • Changbaishan Waterfall: Located within the scenic area, the waterfall plunges down from steep cliffs, displaying a magnificent and breathtaking scene.

  • Changbaishan Grand Canyon: The canyon is deep and steep-walled, forming a V-shaped valley where depth exceeds width, showcasing the unique charm of Changbaishan's terrain.

  • Beauty Pine Love Forest: Composed of 99,000 beauty pines, it is a romantic place where lovers make century-long vows and promises of eternal love. The Changbaishan Management Committee has also created a 1,314-meter love checkpoint route with multiple checkpoint points.

 

Historical Culture and Folk Customs

 

Changbaishan is an ancient volcano whose abundant resources nurtured the primitive ethnic groups of Northeast China and also gave birth to Northeast culture. Human activities in Changbaishan can be traced back to primitive society, and it has historically been occupied or governed by multiple ancient regimes.

The Changbaishan area was also the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty and was therefore sealed off as a dragon vein. These historical backgrounds add a profound historical and cultural heritage to Changbaishan Scenic Area.

 

Tourism Activities and Festivals

 

Changbaishan Scenic Area has four distinct seasons, each offering different tourism activities. For example, winter activities include skiing and ice fishing; summer activities include observing the midnight sun and outdoor exploration.

In addition, Changbaishan Scenic Area regularly hosts various festivals such as Powder Snow Festival and Ice and Snow Food Festival, providing tourists with a colorful tourism experience.
